Title: It Only Takes A Minute
Summary: Mark tries to work out how to tell Gary how he feels about him...
Warning: This is the first fan fic that i've ever posted on LiveJournal!
A/N: The italics are Mark's thoughts. Hope you enjoy it! Comment if you do :)
(I really hope this is ok, i'm so nervous :P)
How? How am I going to tell him? Should I just come out and say it? Should I hint at it? Oh but that could go so terribly wrong, I could get some awfully strange looks if my feelings weren’t returned. If he… if he didn’t feel the same way.
‘Mark… Mark are you alright? You look a bit lost mate!’ Gary giggled, putting his hand on Mark’s shoulder and giving it a little squeeze. Oh, Gary. ‘It’s this blasted tango dance we have to do now isn’t it? I mean I know it’s been going better than any of us ever expected in rehearsal, but god, that’s rehearsal, this is the real thing, thousands of people watching our every move. One wrong foot and…‘ Mark had gone completely silent. Gary‘s words were drifting over him and all he could think of was that hand on his shoulder, still there, still holding on. Mark wanted to grab hold of it, just pull his friend close to him. All he wanted was to be closer to Gary. Then it suddenly dawned on Mark what his best first step would be, why had he not thought of it earlier? If Gary knew this then somehow he might work out why.
‘I left Emma’ Mark declared, cutting Gary off from his nervous babbling.
The look on Gary’s face was definitely not quite what he had expected. Gary was stood there practically gawping at Mark, looking like he was trying to get something out but the words weren’t coming to him. Mark frowned ‘It’s ok Gaz, we’re both ok. No one’s died or anything mate’, and let out a small giggle at how ridiculous Gary looked, staring at him with his mouth wide open.
‘It’s just…I left Dawn too, Mark’.
This time is was Mark’s jaw that dropped, but before he had much of a chance to think about all of this, Gary spoke again, his voice so soft, so quite, that Mark could barely hear him.
‘I’m just… uh… I’m just wondering, well, if we like, did it y’know, for like the same reason, Mark’ and when Gary reached out his hand to stroke Mark’s face, Mark could have sworn his heart was literally going to explode in his chest. But was that what Gary was saying? Or was Mark just getting carried away with himself? He opened his mouth to ask Gary, he had to, he couldn’t possibly wait any longer. ‘You two, get your arses here pronto!’ Shit, no. No no no, I need to know! ‘It’s tango time! Think dancer, be dancer. Now go get ‘em tigers!’ and people were pushing them onto the stage and Mark thought he was going to lose it. He felt like he’d lost the ability to walk, never mind dance. This was going to be the most unbearable five minutes of his life.
